New apple variety is red throughout

Apples are red all the way through now, thanks to a new variety made by cross-pollinating several varieties of the fruit.
Redlove was created by nursery owner Markus Kobelt in Switzerland from tasty varieties such as Royal Gala and Braeburn with a tasteless pink variety.
The new apple, with two kinds available, was developed at Kobelt's fruit farm over a period of 20 years.
They have a shade of berries in them and are enriched with antioxidants. The Redlove Era can be harvested from September and stored until Christmas and the Redlove Sirena is harvested from August and stored until October.
Exclusive sales rights of the apples belong to Devon-based Suttons, who will deliver the saplings in November at £24.95 each. The company reported it has already received 1,500 orders from private customers.
The trees will start bearing fruits in the second year of their growth, which are expected to be in British supermarkets within five years' time.
Redlove saplings are already being planted across Europe for large-scale commercial production.
