Top golfers get university honour

A university is due to honour three world-class golfers with honorary degrees.
The University of St Andrews in Fife will bestow a Doctor of Laws degree to Padraig Harrington, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson for their achievements in the field of sport.
Irishman Harrington won the Open Championship in 2007 and 2008, becoming the first European to retain the Open claret jug since James Braid in 1906.
He also became the USPGA champion in 2008, and has been playing the game since 1995.
Watson and Palmer, both Americans, have been winners of several British and US Open Championships.
University chancellor Sir Menzies Campbell will present the degrees to the players.
University principal Louise Richardson said: "Individually and collectively, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Padraig Harrington exemplify excellence, drive and achievement at the highest levels of professional sport.
"This will be an opportunity for St Andrews and Scotland to honour their determination and achievement in the game of golf and the pursuit of excellence."
