Chelsea pensioners get record deal

A group of retired military men in Chelsea is planning to release an album of military-inspired music after signing a record deal, it has been announced.
The pensioners, who have an average age of 79, are hoping to launch the album – titled Men In Scarlet – in November this year. The seven-strong group had a top five song, The Soldiers, last year.
The upcoming album will also include a performance with 81-year-old Britain's Got Talent finalist Janey Cutler.
The veterans live in the Royal Hospital and are noted for their distinctive scarlet coats and tricorne hats. Money raised from sales will be used for the redevelopment of their bedrooms.
They have seen action in the Second World War and have served in Palestine and Northern Ireland. Between them they have clocked up over 20 medals for their service careers, together with one MBE.
Managing director of Rhino Records Dan Chalmers came up with the idea of asking the men to create an album of forces' favourites, and his team approached hospital bosses.
He thought the pensioners would have a strong emotional connection nationally.
