Inverness kids spend most on dads' gifts
17 Jun 10
Generous children in Inverness are planning to splash their cash this Father's Day after saying they'd be prepared to spend £100 on the perfect gift.
Around 25 per cent of people in the city said they were ready to spend extra on their fathers, according to results of a nationwide survey released by Buyagift.com.
Less expensive presents such as socks seem to have run their course as over a third of respondents voted against the trusted gift favourite.
If you’re a dad, make sure you head north for Father’s Day where it seems people are more than happy to splash out on a special gift compared with their more southerly neighbours.
The survey was conducted to find out what the nation thought when it comes to spending money on the special men in their lives. A quarter of respondents in Inverness said they were prepared to dig deep and spend £100, followed by 17.4 per cent in Gateshead and 11.8 per cent in York.
Throughout the UK it seems that £20.00 is seen as the average Father’s Day spend with just over 52 per cent voting for this sum of money.
Alison Wade, Head of Marketing, Buyagift.com, says: “Over this weekend we’ve seen a large increase in sales of football experiences, a jump of just over 30 per cent compared to last year, as gifts for Father’s Day. We can only put this down the ‘World Cup’ effect."
