Cheryl Cole named 'Woman of Year'
09 Jun 10
Cheryl Cole has proven once again that she is the nation's favourite celebrity.
The singer has been selected as the Woman of the Year at a Glamour magazine ceremony.
The 26-year-old star has hardly been out of news in the past 12 months, which also saw her finally separating from footballer husband Ashley Cole.
She came to the event held at Berkeley Square Gardens in Central London along with her mother and received the award from actor Jason Lewis, best known for his role in Sex and The City as Samantha's boyfriend Jerry "Smith" Jerrod.
She told the audience: "Put me on the stage with a mic and music and I'll be there all day, but this is actually a daunting experience.
"Four or five years ago I'd never dreamt I'd be here amongst so may glamorous women. One person I definitely have to thank is my dentist. So thank you very much."
The ceremony saw many other female figures being recognised, including The One show host Christine Bleakley, who was named the Presenter of the Year.
Pregnant X Factor judge Dannii Minogue won TV Personality of the Year, but was not able to attend the ceremony.
