Missing dog returns after two years

Missing dog returns after two years

The owner of a Jack Russell was reunited with the dog two years after it went missing from their home in Nottingham.
Chris Day and his family had given up all hope of finding their pet Lizzie after she escaped through a gate from their home in Mapperly Park in June 2007.
But a few days ago the four-year-old dog turned up at a farmer’s field in Wolverhampton, 60 miles from home.
St George’s Veterinary group in Wolverhampton rang up the family to let them know she had been found and an overjoyed Mr Day, 40, his wife Fi, and their three children Ben, 15, Nat, 12, and 11-year-old Mimi headed straight off to bring her back.
Toni Colbourne, 34, from the practice, said: “No-one has any idea where Lizzie has been for two years.
“She was found by a farmer wandering in a field and brought in to us. Fortunately she was microchipped and her details came up as an address in Nottingham.”
Lizzie appeared to have been well looked after and Mr Day said she had marks on her legs which showed she might have been used as a working dog.
He told the Nottingham Evening Post: “It’s absolutely fantastic, she just came in, sniffed the other dog and the cats and sat down on her favourite pink sofa.”
